Top 5 From Puma Session 3 in Vegas
Justice Phillips | Gainesville Stampede 17U
Never rattled, best leader I saw over the weekend. He can score and dominate the boards, he’s not afraid to be physical. He’s at his best when he’s pumping up his teammates and making shots for them. His team was down 13 late and he willed them back, wouldn’t let his teammates give up, hit two clutch free throws.
Alec Day | Rose City Ballers 17U
He’s the tallest kid on his team, so he has to do a lot of post player things like catching at the high post and helping on the drive but he also has the speed and shooting to be a guard at the next level. He’s relentless at getting to the basket and putting pressure on the defense. He’s able to get up and defend and gets a lot of deflections each game.
Jomar Bernard | Tre Mann Elite 16U
Most complete player at the event. Very athletic and has no trouble defending on the perimeter. Long arms, dunks easily. Great in catch and shoot situations. Catches in position so he elevates quickly and has an excellent release. Really efficient in the attack, gets where he wants in one dribble.
Damarian Landry | HD LabRats
Landry was the big brother that palms your forehead as you try to punch him. He was taking the ball out of people’s hands. He was knocking down threes off the crossover. Great positional height and offensive skill set. Doesn’t take defense or rebounding off. He had more than one tip slam and blocked a number of shots.
Chinemerem Anyikwa | Sunset Select
It’s easy to be a high energy defender when the press is working. It’s harder to get the press to work late in the game when it’s suddenly close. Anyikwa had an exceptional motor and took ownership to make the press work. He communicated skillfully and covered the whole court. He had a high number of deflections and generally was able to force the offense into uncomfortable positions.
